Michail Kokkorakis, MD, PhD

Dr. Michail Kokkorakis is a postdoctoral fellow in the Section of Digestive Diseases at the Yale School of Medicine, with a research focus on hepatology. As a physician-scientist, Dr. Kokkorakis investigates immunometabolic pathways driving alcoholic hepatitis and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis. His work focuses on humanized liver models and omics to elucidate mechanisms of liver injury and repair.

Dr. Kokkorakis has extensive experience in large-scale population-based research, machine learning models for risk stratification, and (pharmaco)epidemiology, using international cohorts such as the UK Biobank, Lifelines, and TriNetX. By integrating mechanistic insights from experimental models with population-level evidence, he aims to identify druggable targets and improve translational pathways for metabolic liver disease. He is committed to advancing precision hepatology and developing tools that support earlier detection and more effective treatment strategies.
